Angela is Community Services Manager in the People Directorate of Sheffield City Council. She has had a lead role in the development of the Sheffield Cohesion Strategic Framework since the beginning of 2015 and has been working in co-production with the voluntary, community, faith sector ever since. Angela leads the Cohesion and Migration team in the council, managing a range of community based partnership projects across the city. She is strongly committed to working with communities and local groups.
Angela’s background is in social housing and community development, starting her career at Northern Counties Housing Association moving onto community regeneration projects in NE Derbyshire, and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. She created an area wide partnership at the Burton Street Project, moving to the council 11 years ago as an Area Coordinator for Southey and Owlerton Area Panel. Angela managed the East Community Assembly before moving to her present city wide role but has kept her passion for neighbourhood level working.
Paul is a member of the senior management team at Voluntary Action Sheffield. He manages the Volunteer Centre, including the New Beginnings project which supports forced migrants to access volunteering, employment and education in Sheffield.
He started his career at a housing association supporting asylum seekers under the NASS contract and saw firsthand, the impact of the policy of destitution. Paul was one of the founding members of ASSIST in 2003, and set up the volunteer hosting scheme the following year.
Over the past 5 years, Mike Fitter has dedicated his time to building a strategic city-wide approach to cohesion in Sheffield. This has engaged him with community activists, council leaders, police and importantly the leaders of tomorrow, from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. From his deep connection to his Buddhist faith, Mike looks for what can be created from where we are at. His commitment and tirelessness has inspired those he comes into contact with, from Chief Executive to neighbourhood youth. He is currently Co-Chair of the Cohesion Advisory Group, on the ELG for Cohesion Sheffield, member of the Cohesion, Migration and Integration Strategy Group, trustee of Mediation Sheffield, and a founder and the vice chair of Who Is Your Neighbour.
Maddy is CEO at Voluntary Action Sheffield, taking the lead to provide a collective voice and to exert influence on behalf of voluntary community and faith groups in the city. Such groups play a key role in promoting cohesion across the city, engaging communities and supporting people to do what matters to them most.
Maddy loves bringing people together to develop and share ideas and turn them into action. Through engagement, partnership and collaboration she seeks to ensure the sector’s influence is strengthened and that diverse voices are heard and amplified within all sectors.
