James is founder and Managing Director of Opus Independents Ltd, a not-for-profit social enterprise, working in culture, politics and the arts. Opus works to encourage and support participation, systemic activism and creativity through mediums including in print, digital and live events. Opus strands include Now Then Magazine, Festival of Debate and they also manage the public-facing side of the Our Fair City Campaign, which seeks to reduce inequality in Sheffield.

James has over ten years of experience working in the third sector in a variety of project management and delivery roles and sits on the boards of Voluntary Action Sheffield, Healthwatch and Sheffield Creative Guild. He also has experience in value led sales, marketing and promotion and a particular knowledge of independent trade, arts and culture sectors within the city.
